| GAMMA RAY | Very penetrating electromagnetic radiation of nuclear origin. Except for point of origin, it is identical to the x-ray. Gamma rays are produced internal to the nucleus whereas x-rays are produced externally. All other characteristics are the same. |
| GRAY | The System International (SI) unit of absorbed dose in which the absorbed dose is equal to one Joule per kilogram (1 J/kg). |
