GAMMA RAY Very penetrating electromagnetic radiation of nuclear origin. Except for point of origin, it is identical to the x-ray. Gamma rays are produced internal to the nucleus whereas x-rays are produced externally. All other characteristics are the same.
GRAY The System International (SI) unit of absorbed dose in which the absorbed dose is equal to one Joule per kilogram (1 J/kg).
